Importing or exporting bookmarks

Import bookmarks from Firefox or Internet Explorer

This feature isn't available on Chrome OS.
  1. Click the spanner icon tools menu on the browser toolbar.  
  2. Select Bookmarks.
  3. Select Import Bookmarks and Settings.
  4. Select the application that contains the settings you'd like to import.
  5. Make sure that only the checkboxes for items you want to import are selected.
  6. Click Import.
If you don't have any bookmarks on your bookmarks bar in Google Chrome, the bookmarks that you import will show up directly on the bar. You can also find them by clicking the spanner menu and selecting Bookmarks. If you already have bookmarks on your bookmarks bar, the bookmarks that you import will appear in a new folder called "Imported from Firefox" or "Imported from IE", located at the end of the bar.

Import bookmarks from any browser

  1. Export bookmarks from any browser as a HTML file and save the file to your computer.
  2. Click the spanner icon on the browser toolbar in Google Chrome.
  3. Select Bookmark manager.
  4. Click the Organize menu in the manager.
  5. Select Import bookmarks.
  6. Open your saved HTML file.
If you don't have any bookmarks on your bookmarks bar in Google Chrome, the bookmarks that you import will show up directly on the bar. You can also find them by clicking the spanner menu and selecting Bookmarks. If you already have bookmarks on your bookmarks bar, the bookmarks that you import will appear in a new folder located at the end of the bar.

Export bookmarks from Google Chrome

  1. Click the spanner icon on the browser toolbar.
  2. Select Bookmark manager.
  3. Click the Organize menu in the manager.
  4. Select Export bookmarks.
  5. Choose a location in which you want your exported file to be saved, then click Save.
Google Chrome will export your bookmarks as a HTML file.



Another option is Exporting and Importing into a Diigo Account (which is my preferred method). Diigo can be access anywhere at anytime as long as you are connected to the Internet. Click on the link below for instructions on moving your bookmarks to Diigo
